Prop the blogs with Propeller 2.0

Propeller, is a news site like Digg owned by AOL. It had now turned into version 2.0. The site has a new design and a new logo and now has a mascot too. Here it is:

                  propeller

It is one of the popular bookmarking site. There has been some changes made in it as a part of the remodelling like the  the removal of a pure Digg-like vote count. An algorithm based popularity ranking of 1-10, which takes into account “many more aspects of participation” when determining popularity is implemented in its place. Voting on a story is now called the more nebulous “prop it.” The service has also cut down the number of news categories. Those remaining include Arts & Entertainment, Business & Finance, Family, Humor, News, Science & Technology, Sports and Style.

Now the recent headlines from the service will also be integrated directly into AOL and AOL News so the users will have a great feature to view them at any of those places.

It also has had a rocky history. It first launched in June 2006 under the Netscape.com domain as “a better Digg” in that paid editors chose the top stories from user-submitted and voted links. In August 2007 rumors circulated that the site was going to be shut down. Now the site would live on a new domain, Propeller.com.

The new version looks cool with a clean look and is very easy to navigate. The best part is it has a social networking option too. So you can create and join groups and can Prop your favorite stories too.

Who knows? This may be another Digg or if possible may be better than it. Lets hope for the best. So join and Start Propelling by Propping this post.
