This is happened to me when I was trying to play music from my friend’s iPod Touch to his PS3, then found that it is very much possible to connect iPod Touch / iPhone to PS3 or Xbox 360 and play music or videos on these gaming consoles.
So, if you own a Xbox 360 or PS3 console, you can stream music and video on it straight form your iPod Touch or iPhone provided all the devices are connected to same WiFi connection. Their is a nifty app named, AirMusic which can be downloaded on your iOS device from the iTunes which would cost you $2.99 but it is truly worth, trust me.
The best part about this app is that it is not much of difficulty to start using it. All you need to do is connect your iPhone / iPod touch and Xbox 360 or PS3 to a WiFi connection and then launch this app on your iOS device.
And once done, simply turn on the Music Sharing. Once done, you can check that your gaming console will detect your iOS device. You would find your iOS device under the Media Devices section.
From there, you can navigate into the directories of your iOS device and play its content which could be music, videos or even photos. Navigating your iOS device on your gaming console not any rocket science, it is same as the normal way.
