Sometimes you will encounter a problem with the restrictions on your computer. To be more clear, whenever you click on a drive or a folder in your computer, you will get a message “This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.” This occurs even if you are logged in as an administrator.
You will be able to run all executables on your desktop and will be able to open all documents on the desktop. The programs also will work but you will not be able to save any thing in any folder as it refuses to open the folder/drive in the “Save as” window.
The solution of this problem can be done by using the Microsoft Management Console to fix issues with access permissions.TGA. The procedure is as follows..
-
Click Start > Run. Type MMC and then click OK.
-
Click Console and then click Add/remove Snap-in.
-
In the Add/remove Snap-in dialog box, click Add.
-
In the Add Standalone Snap-in list, click Group Policy, and then click Add.
-
In the Group Policy object window, click Finish.
-
Click Close, and then click OK.
-
Go to Local Computer Policy > User Configuration > Administrative Templates.
-
Click Desktop.
-
In the right-pane, Right-click Hide my Network Places icon on desktop, and then click Properties.
-
Click Not Configured, and then click OK.
-
Expand Windows Components, and then click Windows explorer.
-
In the right pane, right-click Prevent access to drives from my Computer, and then click Properties.
-
Click Not Configured, and then click OK.
-
Quit the Local Computer Policy MMC snap-in.

Please contact your system administrator”….What should i do?
GpEDIT.msc is the group policy editor. It is different from registry. The GPEDIT change you did can be easily reversed. Just remember what you did and undo it.
If you still face any problem, contact me with details.
how can i undo it?

I have the same problem and cannot find Group Policy.
Was there a solution to this problem?
Open Start > Run and type gpedit.msc
You will get it.
to fix this problem you only should update your internet explorer to the next version. for example if you are running Internet Explorer 7, update it to Internet Explorer 8. this will solve your problems. i faced the same problem and this was the only way that worked.
