Skype has grown exponentially in past two years. More and more people are using it as default IM client. Whether it would be computer, smartphones, Mac or any other operating system, Skype is becoming the only way for text chat, voice chat and video chat. So, here are the ways to fix Skype crashes.
We would be sharing ways to fix the Skype crashing on Windows, Mac and Linux. All these steps are amazingly easy and quick. Without much of efforts you can prevent your Skype from crashing now and then.
Fix Skype Crashes On Windows
- Launch the Run utility either by clicking on the Start button or by pressing Windows key and R
- There, type %appdata%\skype and click on Ok button
- Now, open the folder that is labelled as Skype
- Here, look for file named as shared.xml and delete it
- Once it is done, open Skype and start using it
Fix Skype Crashes On Mac
- Click on Finder and then navigate to the below location
/ Library / Application Support / Skype
- Here, look for file named as shared.xml and delete it
- Now, launch Skype and start using it
Fix Skype Crashes On Linux
- Navigate to the directory, / home /LinuxUserName / .Skype
- Here, look for file named as shared.xml and delete it
- Restart the Skype and that is all
This does not work for Mac. It crashes then rewrites the file. And you need to specify that the they need to go through /Users/[username]/Library [this file is hidden]/Application Support/Skype. Otherwise no one will find it. Just a heads up 🙂
