Can you precisely remember the exact file path of your document? At times, your answer might be ‘Yes’. But what if the document is hidden within layers of folders and sub-folders? Lost are you? Don’t worry, you can customize Word such that the address of the document is displayed in the toolbar. It is simple. Follow the steps below:
-
Right-click on the toolbar.
-
Click ‘Customize’ to open.
-
Click the ‘Commands’ tab.
-
From ‘Categories’, select ‘Web’.
-
From the command list, click and drag ‘Address’ to your toolbar.
-
Close the ‘Customize’ dialog box.
The file path of the currently opened document will be displayed in the address bar. In addition this, you can also open any other Word document by simply typing the address in the toolbar. To view your web history, simply click the drop down arrow.
I tried this and it did not work but I then followed your first two dot points but opened Toolbars instead of Command and ticked the option WEB and it immediately sent the file path to one of my toolbars. I am using Word 2000 so don’t know if that makes a difference but your original post led me to the correct spot to find a solution so thanks a lot.
Thank you!
