Are you fed up of logging into number of Instant messengers for chatting with your friends? Here is a great software for you. Instead of logging into all those IM’s all you have to do is to use this tool to chat with your friends.
I will stop beating around the bush. It is called PIDGIN. It is a multi-protocol Instant messaging client that allows you to use all your IM accounts at once. The various accounts include
- AIM
- MSN
- Google Talk
- Yahoo!
- Zephyr
- IRC
- ICQ
- XMPP
- SILC
- Myspace IM
- Group wise
- Bonjour
- Gadu Gadu
- SIMPLE
- Sametime
Thats a long list, Isn’t it? Above all Pidgin is free and is licensed under GNU general Public License. It is also available in Linux as Finch. This is designed based on Libpurple which is written in C and this helps it in connecting all the IM’s together.
You can add your accounts giving your account ID and password. When your friends are online you can see them on the main console window. Like this you can see all your friends on different messengers at the same time and can also chat with them simultaneously.
Pidgin supports various services such as File Transfer, Offline messages and Notifications etc. There are some other features like Buddy Pounces, which give the ability to notify you, send a message, play a sound, or run a program when a specific buddy goes away, signs online, or returns from idle; and plugins, consisting of text replacement, a buddy ticker, extended message notification, iconify on away, spell checking, tabbed conversations, and more.
You can download it from here –> PIDGIN’s website and stay in touch with all your friends. Happy chatting!!
