Google CHROME, a webkit based Internet browser has been released. With all the hype that is created around it , many people have already tried and blogged about their first impressions. But did the CHROME lived upto its expectations? Can it give a competition to Firefox which is considered the best browser in business. Here is a small comparison between the two browsers.
Well its very early to compare both but here I am just listing out the potentiality of the two browsers. As the Chrome is still in its beta stage let us look at some of the basic features :
Speed : Firefox is fast , I agree but Chrome is faster. This will be the first best thing to note in Chrome as it certainly is fast on JavaScript heavy sites. For instance, opening mail in Gmail is almost stunningly fast.Youtube also rocked in Chrome.
Appearance : Chrome looks sleek and stylish and simple. It is also light weighted browser may be because of its beta version. The whole interface looks just like browsing another google site.
Features : Chrome has almost all the basic features required for a browser. It also has a Icognitio mode which allows you to view pages which won’t get noted in browser history or search history etc. Firefox is a feature rich because of its applications and add-ons.
User Friendly : Just like Firefox ,Chrome is also a very user friendly as the navigation is quite simple. But Firefox is much better than Chrome as the latter is some what clumsy as everything is embedded in menus. also the tabs on the top are hard to find.
Extendibility : This is one of the main features of Chrome as it is an open source project, It is very much developer friendly which makes it possible for many future additions which can enhance it. It can be easily extended to a better versions. It has special options for developers including an inbuilt Javascript Debugger.
Security: Firefox is well known for its security where as Chrome whose core is a multi-process platform, helps provide users with enhanced security. But already security flaws like this http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=1843 are reported which can be eliminated in final version.
Stability : Firefox can be very unstable as it crashes when overloaded where as in Chrome each browser tab operates as a separate process; by isolating tabs, should one tab crash or misbehave, others remain stable and responsive, and users can continue working without having to restart Google Chrome.
Memory Usage : Chrome uses very less memory compared to Firefox. It used less than 100 MB memory with 7 to 8 tabs open and never crashed. when the same is done with Firefox it used much more memory but Firefox can perform better.
Loading time : Google Chrome, after installation proved to be much lighter and faster(in terms of loading) then Internet Explorer or Firefox.
Like this there are many features in which Chrome scored good marks but Firefox wins the race. As it is still in the beta stage we can expect much more out of it when it is equipped with plugins and add-ons.
Google Chrome was designed to make it easy for users to search and navigate the web for the content they’re looking for. There are many cool features in Google Chrome which will make you to give it a try by downloading it from http://www.google.com/chrome. They are as follows:
- A combined search and address bar quickly takes users where they want to go, often in just a few keystrokes.
- New tab shows snapshots of their most-visited sites, recent searches and bookmarks, making it even easier to navigate the web.
- Google Chrome was engineered to deliver a seamless web experience for users.Google also built a new JavaScript engine, V8, which not only speeds up today’s web applications, but enables a whole new class of web applications that couldn’t exist on today’s browsers.
- Google gears enabled , which will allow you to work offline with some sites.
- It also allowed synchronization of bookmarks, saved passwords and other stuff from the popular browsers. It gets install in your regional language and has much better support for it.
Firefox is still ( and may always be ) the best browser. Lets hope Chrome gives a tough competition to Firefox so that we can get the best browsing experience possible. Share your views on Chrome here..
hi…………
Firefox is safe . But chrome crashes occasionally
i have tried both chrome n firefox on my pc..
i opened 10 different tabs in both the browsers and i notice the firefox still rules…
both the browsers opened tabs well but when firefox once opened the tabs it works more quickly as compared 2 D chrome.. its took no time to open any tab but chrome opens only 4-5 tab quickly for the rest it still required 1-2 seconds….
in starting u can say that firefox is slow but when it once started u rule the internet…. but ya chrome got gud downloading speed…
so u can use both of them…. only for surfing or 1-5 downloads chrome would be great and for heavy usage firefox is still there…
Google Chrome is really fast!
Now I can sort 200,000 records inside of Browser (Chrome) just in 1 sec. (Faster than Microsoft Excel):

Shiver me timbers, them’s some great ifnomariton.
Because most people got addicted to one of the few famous browsers, firefox, Chrome really needs more fascinating features which makes it different from already existing ones in terms of reliability and stability apart from the performance criteria, which is crucial for any browser.
Since Chrome is in its betas, let us expect a good browser from google.
its really cool browser with sleek design and even the disk space it takes is also too low than others 😉
