You can get rid of the prompt permanently via a registry entry. In order do that,

  • Open ‘Run’ in the start menu, enter ‘regedit’ and click ‘OK’.
  • Navigate to ‘HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\Windows Search’ in the Registry Editor.
  • Click in the right part of the window and open ‘Edit > New > DWORD value’. Then type ‘Show-Prompt’ and press Enter.
  • Leave the specified value as ‘0’ and close the registry.

From now on, whenever you start Internet Explorer, you will never come across this annoying prompt. Nevertheless, if you want to install Windows Search again later via this
