How to Install, Run & Use Windows Games, Software Applications in Linux – PlayOnLinux


Windows Programs like Software or Games doesn’t work in Linux. Using PlayOnLinux, you can Install and Run Windows Games and Software Applications on your Linux system easily. This is very useful to use different windows programs in Linux.  You don’t need to search for the Linux version of your favorite Windows Game or programs as it can execute almost any windows app in Linux.

First, You need to download PlayOnLinux based on your Linux Distribution like ArchLinux, Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Gentoo, OpenSuse, etc. You will get specific instructions for each type of Linux. You need to update repositories before you instal the software.

PlayOnLinux - - Run Windows programs, games in Linux

Here we are taking an example of Ubuntu. Run the following command set to update your Ubuntu repository.

sudo wget http://deb.playonlinux.com/playonlinux_jaunty.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/playonlinux.list
sudo apt-get  update

After doing this, Install PlayOnLinux by executing the following command.

sudo apt-get install playonlinux

Once you are done with the installation, You can use it from Applications >Games > PlayonLinux. The interface is easy to use and you can select the category from the left sidebar like Games, Office, etc and get the required settings applied easily.

Enjoy Windows Games and Applications on your Linux systems and you won’t even need to switch the operating system to access your favorite programs or play any game.
