How To Use Multiple Dropbox Accounts On One Computer


Have you ever wanted to access multiple Dropbox instances on your computer. Yes, I am asking do you know how to use multiple Dropbox accounts on one computer. This Dropbox trick works very well on any of the Windows OS.

This is one of those Dropbox tricks which would let you use any number of Dropbox instances and get unlimited storage space on its cloud. All you need to do is some tweaking and you are done. Below is the complete guide:

First thing that you need to do is to decide create a separate user account to do this Dropbox trick. In order to perform all your multiple Dropbox instances actions in a separate user account, then go ahead and create a new account for it.

NOTE: In order to create a new account, you need to navigate as below:

Control Panel > Add & Remove User Accounts

There, you can complete the steps and get yourself a new account for Dropbox activities.

Once you are done with the account creation part, login with that particular user account and we can go ahead with our task to use multiple Dropbox accounts on one computer.

Now, create a folder in any of the drives which would actually work as your Dropbox folder. Next thing that you need to do is install Dropbox on your computer if you have not. And when it prompts you to choose the folder for your, make sure you choose the created folder.

Now, logout of this account and login with your Primary account. See if you have the shortcut to Dropbox on your Desktop, if you do not have it, make sure you create it.

Once you have its shortcut, right click on it and click on Properties. There in the Target field, you need to add the below line at the start:

runas /user:username

Where username stands for the user that you have created in the initial steps.

Now, when you double click on the shortcut, it will ask you for the password in a command prompt. Just, enter the password and you will find that mutiple Dropbox accounts are running on your Windows PC. And if you want all these accounts to run at the startup, simply copy the shortcut on the desktop to the below location:

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

That is it! You can follow these steps properly and you are done with your task to use multiple Dropbox accounts on one computer running on any Windows OS version.
