How To Lend Books On Kindle For Free


Let me be honest. When I first heard of this feature, I was shocked to the core as I was not able to understand the concept at all. I mean, if one could lend books on Kindle, then what about its online market of books?

But when I dig it deep and read the details, I found that Amazon has designed the feature such that it wont hamper any existing thing, legally or illegally.

The first thought that actually crossed my mind when I heard of this feature to loan Kindle books for free, was if this would bring in the piracy but I was absolutely wrong because this concept of borrowing Kindle books has been designed such that there is no scope of hampering existing harmony.

Steps To Lend Books On Kindle For Free

Before we go ahead there is one thing you need to understand that in order to lend Kindle books, the particular book should be eligible to be lended. And this totally depends on the publisher. This can be checked by checking the page of that book where the Lending option. If it is marked as Enabled, then you can lend that Kindle book or else you cannot.

  • Login to your Amazon account
  • Get on to Account Settings option, where you need to click on the Manage my Kindle option
  • It will now take you to the library which would show you with all the books which you have bought and besides those books, you can find options like delete, transfer it to computer and loan this title if that particular title is eligible
  • It would now direct you to a form, where you need to enter the lending details
  • Once it is submitted, the recipient will have 7 days to accept it and once he accepts it, he will have 14 days to read the book

Steps To Receive Kindle Books

Once someone lends any Kindle book, recepient would receive an email to the ID that the lender has entered in the form while lending that book. All you need to do is click on the link and login to his / her Amazon ID and click on the Get your loaned book now button.

If you have a reading device or application, just select the device from the drop down menu and click on Accept button.

If you do not have a Kindle device or Kindle app, just click on the Accept button and it would direct you with a set of instructions to get reading app installed on your computer and then return to email message and accept the loan.

Once you do that, you have 14 days to read the book as after 14 days, it would automatically go back to the owner.

So this is how you can borrow and lend Kindle books on loan. Personally, I believe that it is a great feature offered by Amazon which would surely be appreciated.
