Lately Mac OS X is getting affected by some dangerous malware. There are number of fake iMac anti virus tools are available on Internet like MacDefender, MacProtector, MacSecurity. But actually these tools are malware themselves. So, here is guide to remove MacDefender, MacProtector, MacSecurity from Mac.

  • Firstly, close or force quite the program as you cannot keep it running
  • Now, navigate to Utilities folder and launch the Activity Monitor tool
  • Here, if have to perform an important task of spotting all the process linked with MacDefender, MacSecurity or MacProtector and killing them. So, look for such processes and quite all of them
  • Once it is done, close the Acitivity Monitor
  • Since all these malware are non-operative on your Mac, all you need to is uninstall them from your Mac. So, from Applications, drag them and drop them into the trash

In some of the cases, these malware end up creating user accounts too. So, you can remove such logins by following the below steps:

  • Launch System Preferences and then click on Accounts button and then on Login Items
  • Here, choose the application that you have removed in the above steps and click on the Minus button
