METHOD 1 – Update To iOS 5 On iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 2, iPod Touch
Launch iTunes on your computer and connect your Apple device to it and wait until it detects the device.
Once you see your device on the left panel of the iTunes, hold Shift key and click on Restore button on iTunes if you are working on Windows. And if you are on Mac, hold Alt or Option key and click on Restore button.
Now navigate to the location where you have downloaded the iOS 5 firmware for your respective Apple device. And then wait while iTunes update to iOS 5.
METHOD 2 – Update To iOS 5 On iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 2, iPod Touch
Here is another method. Technically speaking, there is not any difference between these two methods. It is just that the later one does things automatically.
Once you connect iTunes to your computer, it would pop up an update pop up asking if you want to Download and Install the iOS 5. Just click on that button and let it take care of rest of the things.
